Chevron is the incumbent brand of the BC coast — it ran the Burnaby refinery for decades and built the densest station network in Vancouver, which is why "the Chevron price" is what many locals mean by "the gas price". That density cuts both ways: on any given day the spread between the cheapest and most expensive Chevron inside the city runs several cents per litre, with the SE Marine Drive and East Hastings sites near the bottom of the range and the West Side and downtown-adjacent corners near the top.
The brand itself changed hands quietly: Parkland bought Chevron’s Canadian retail network (and the Burnaby refinery) in 2017, so today’s Chevron stations are Parkland-operated under licence, with fuel largely refined right in Burnaby. For drivers the practical consequence is loyalty — Chevron participates in Parkland’s Journie Rewards, which takes a few cents per litre off with a linked CAA membership.
